Taylor's personal and professional correspondence (1925-86) includes letters from colleagues, friends, and students. Taylor's involvement in the Humanities Program at Oberlin College (1947-81) and the Twentieth Century Program at Hiram College in Ohio (1970-74) is well documented in program reports, copies of lectures, and correspondence. Of special interest are Taylor's chronological files documenting the governance controversy at Oberlin College (1949-85). Also present are photocopies of Taylors' book and drama reviews, reprints and tear sheets of published articles, and drafts of talks and lectures.

Warren Taylor was born in Bedford County, Tennessee in 1903. He received the B.A. degree in 1924 and the M.A. degree in 1926 from Vanderbilt University in Nashville. He served as Instructor at the University of Tennessee from 1926 to 1929 and in 1930 moved to the University of Chicago to undertake graduate work in English literature, receiving the Ph.
